New Album That Is True Music News/An Artist Who Is An Entrepreneur   by Jacob King

Best Rapper? Much More Than a Rapper. Great New Album(s).

When I heard the title "Death to Wack Rappers" I figured this was going to be one of two things:
a. the bitter rantings of an unknown and lesser skilled version of KRS-1
or
b. Simply a hardcore album that smashes every rapper in the industry in a Chino XL/Canibus sort of way.

I was for the most part, wrong. However, when coming at other rappers in his lyrics, Bigg Verb DaVinci is a certified beast. Here are a few lines that I had to jot down to put in this write-up:

"Loosen yo grips on ya mics and tighten ya mouths. What the fuck ya'll lived through that's worth writin' about? Waste of ink and wrist strength you could apply to. Jackin off so you don't procreate more people that's like you". - Intro I've Arrived

"They know I can't be judged, alone at my level for years. 'Cuz ain't no such thing as twelve of my peers". - Stop Lookin at Me

"I try to ignore but haters get that punch-pow-bam. I stay harder than a priest at a cubscout camp". - Cups Up

"Most rappers only tote cuz they truly bitches. My uppercut and overhand leave they heads lookin like Stewie Griffin's" - Kill You All

"I'll chew ya' fuckin eyeball out so you can see what I'm sayin" - Damn We Money

I was diggin some of the grimier stuff like I always do like "All I Need" (this guy is a master at rappin' over guitars). But don't let the light skin fool you. Dude's got some soul, as well! He gets his sing on on "Hell on Earth" and lays a verse that is just out of this world. Straight up and down. On "It Ain't You" he talks about funny violence over a beat that reminds me of early Cypress Hill with a New York touch. On "Body Talk" he brings it for the ladies [or the fellas in relationships] and does what he does here-and-there that really sets him apart - changes his flow mid-stanza, sings a line or two and changes up again!

When it comes to the artist himself, he has done a lot for the Detroit underground hip hop scene. He and his wife run a coalition called the UADA that gets artists on shows that pay and that offer prizes. He also extended olive branches to several local artists on this release like: Faze Blue Legoon, B-Side,Tikko,Nerve Damage, Stevie Steve, Monte Cristoe, Jigsaw (on the albums KILLER title track), Hellusin8 and Zitro.

Around 90% of the album was recorded in-house (you guessed it, he engineered it and mastered it) and he produced roughly 50% of it as well. (With help from J-Palm mainly - a great Detroit producer I just learned about with this release). The studio that he runs out of his house is the most affordable in Metro Detroit (from his claims but I don't think anyone beats $15 an hour and less in blocks or full-length albums for $1000 that are store-ready with album cover and all!).

The most interesting thing about this project that makes it different from anything else out there is the fact that it is literally becoming the new album in hip hop with practically no budget and simply blood, sweat and tears (of foes) behind it. It's all about search engine optimization.

If you heard of Bigg Verb DaVinci before (he was known pretty well before the 'DaVinci was added but â
